[62/??] Jamie Campbell Bower as Jace Herondale in The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones (2013)
↳ “When I was nine, my father gave me a falcon. Told me to make it obedient. I was supposed to keep the bird blind, but I … Couldn’t bring myself to do it. Still, I touched and stroked it’s wings until it trusted me. I tamed it to perfection. I took it to my father, expecting him to be proud for what I’d done. He said: ‘I told you to make it obedient. Instead you taught it to love you. You didn’t tame it, you broke it.’ And he took the bird and broke it’s neck. ”
One of the best letters I ever got was from an eleven year old boy who said that he loved City of Bones because he could relate to Jace because like Jace, he was very handsome and it was a major problem.
By Cassandra Clare
“Vials of holy water, blessed knives, steel and silver blades,” Jace said, piling the weapons on the floor beside him, “electrum wire- not much use at the moment, but it’s always good to have spare- silver bullets, charms of protection, crucifixes, stars of David-“
“Jesus,” said Clary
“I doubt he’d fit.”
“Jace.” Clary was appalled.
“I don’t know; it just seems wrong to make jokes like that in a church.”
And now every night Alec looks down onto the remains of that one pale scar. The only thing remaining to remind him of Magnus. But just like the faded rune there was barely anything left of that bond they shared.
